What Do Whales Eat

"So what do whales eat.."

A School of Barracuda and Another Smaller Fish in a Blue Sea

Large baleen whales may be some of the largest animals in the world, but their food is tiny.

What they eat depends on the exact species, but generally they eat zooplanktoncrustaceans, krill and small fish.

They are filter feeders but they use different methods and prey, e. g. blue whales swim through krill or fish swarms, gray whales plough the ocean floors, and humpback whales for example use the method of bubble netting where many animals cooperate to catch large amounts of small fish.
