Hermanus Whale Watching
"Hermanus whale
watching is some of the most popular in South Africa.."
Hermanus - a town south of Cape Town in South Africa, is one of the best (if not the best) places in the world to watch the whales from the shore.
It is a long stretch, about 12km, and the whales come incredibly close and can be seen from a cliff path on short distance.
There are benches, watching spots, and even telescopes to see the whales further away.
The whales that are most often seen are Southern Right Whales, which come here between May and October to give birth to their calves.
Other species that can be seen at other times of the year are killer whales, brydes whales; and common, heavisides and bottlenose dolphins.
