The most threatened whales are the large baleen whales. They are the whales that were hunted during the past two centuries. They were hunted on so badly that some of the species almost vanished and many have still today not recovered. At least nine species still have numbers below the pre-hunting times. And Blue Whale, the largest animal in the world, now exists in numbers that are only about 10% of what there was before the whaling started in 1800s. Right Whales, the group that includes Blue Whales, was the group that took most damage.
