Are Pink Dolphins Endangered?
"Are pink dolphins endangered..? - Yes, they are."
There are two species of dolphins that are sometimes called pink dolphins:
The Amazon River Dolphin, which lives in the Amazon river basin; and
The Chinese White Dolphin, which lives in the Pearl River, and also in the ocean waters in South-east Asia.
Both are endangered.
The Amazon species is mainly threatened by pollution and habitat loss.
The Chinese species is threatened by
* busy boat traffic (collisions, noise)
* overfishing and fishing nets
* pollution (sewage, industrial pollutants)
* PCB, DDT and TBT which have entered their food chain
* habitat loss (landfill)
